Start doing the things you love | Live in the present moment

There is nobody who tells you how you should live your life and which things you should pursue to achieve succes. That is a lesson I keep reminding myself. It is true that we have a schooling system that is designed to make us useful workers and has little room for creativity, but besides that you do not have to listen to anyone for advice on how you should live your life. I always thought about what other people would think of me when I started playing guitar in a band or started this blog and my youtube channel. But actually, everyone is busy with their own life and they don’t care that much about it. The only people that care are the ones that resonate with your ideas and get inspired by the things that you do. The best thing you can do in your life is to start doing the things you love and live in the present moment. Because you do not have to wait to start doing these things.

Start doing the things you love | Identifying what you truly enjoy

When you let go of the worrying thoughts about other people and start to live in the present moment, identifying what you truly enjoy will come naturally. You may ask yourself the question: ‘If money wasn’t a problem, what would I like to do for the rest of my life’. Out of that question you may find three or four things that you really enjoy and can do the rest of your life. It doesn’t matter if you do not make money with it right away, because the money will come later if you enjoy what you are doing and can inspire yourself and others with it. You have the ability to design your life the way you want and there is always a possibility to monetize what you love doing, because you have to be creative to figure that out.

Making Time for What You Love

When you identified what you love doing, you have to create time for these things to grow. It may be a time of big uncertainty and you might have to let go of some things, but it will be worth it in the long run. Just know that everything is a process, and you may not see clearly where you are going at the beginning, but as long as you do not quit, overtime it will all become clearer and you will start to see how you can do things you love and make a living with it. In this day and age, there are infinite possibilities to make a living with things that you love doing, because we have the internet and social media platforms. It is a good step to document the things that you are doing and post them online. This way you can build an audience with people who love your work. It is also totally fine to do these things besides having a job, as long as you take enough time during the week and weekends to spend on your passions.

Change from Consumer to Creator

The moment you take the shift from consumer to creator, everything becomes a lot more fun and rewarding. It is very simple, but people who are able to do the things they love are generally creators. You have to take the steering wheel of your own life and start creating and documenting your work. It is also a good thing to remember that what you are trying to build is your life’s work. You have to look at this in terms of ten, twenty or fourty years of work. So it is okay to take some days off if things don’t work out or you get frustrated about something, but you should never quit because of that. If you do things long enough, it will change your life. With this comes succes and failure, and you can learn something from every moment.

Start Living in the Present Moment

In order to do the things you love and always wanted to do, you need to start living in the present moment. Forget about tomorrow, the next month or the next year. Everything you want to do happens now, in the present moment. This means that you should not make excuses for not starting these things. But it also requires from you that you can listen very closely to your own voice and what your life’s purpose is. There will never be a perfect moment to start doing what you love. Along the way of the process, you will gain new insights and learn new techniques that improve the things that you create, but you can enjoy every step of the way. I think we can all benefit from doing things that we love, and it will make the world a better place. The options are endless with all of the technology we have today.

How can you make the shift

To sum it all up, in order for you to start doing the things that you always wanted to do, you need to listen to your inner voice. Start creating a top three or top four of the things that you love doing. Find out a way how you can document these passions and share them with your audience. Start making the shift from consumer to creator and make some time for yourself to live in the present moment. The most important thing is to prioritize yourself and listen to yourself in the first place.
